CHAMPAGNE POMMERY
It was in 1836 that the future Maison Pommery saw the light of day, created by Narcisse Greno.
Twenty years later, he was joined by Monsieur Pommery, and Henri Vasnier became the company's financial backer.
Following the sudden death of Monsieur Pommery, it was his wife, Jeanne-Alexandrine Louise, who took over the running of the company in 1858
.In 1868, Louise Pommery undertook the construction of the Domain which still stands today, a huge building enterprise which was only completed in 1888. However, 1874 was the year of the real "Pommery Revolution": the Brut Nature, the veritable symbol of our Maison's identity, was created.
In 2002, the company Vranken Monopole aquired the Maison Pommery inside its Group.
Pommery Reims. A spectacular visit. Just turn up any time between 11am and 5pm, pay the nominal FF40 admission. You descend the dramatic 101-step staircase into 18 km of cellars cut into and linking 120 former Roman chalk-pits and containing 25 million bottles! Bas-reliefs. Glass of Champagne.
